Congrats to Placido Polanco. He was voted as the Rawlings Gold Glove winner at third base in the National League, beating out Daniel Descalso and Pablo Sandoval.
Below is the complete roster of 2011 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners from each League, and the number of Rawlings Gold Glove Awards each player has won in his career:

So Kemp wins the Gold Glove and will probably win the MVP…and he could have been acquired last off season for very little!! Maybe a few prospects as the Dodgers wanted to unload him…that was a missed opportunity!! Congrats to Polly!!

Polly is an All-Star and a Gold Glove winner despite his injuries this year. Is he still durable enough to be in the lineup every day? Maybe not. But he’s still a hell of a player when he’s healthy, and I hope he’s able to contribute in 2012.

Congrats to Polly! I was saying all year if he didn’t win it would be robbery. I’m glad MLB got that one right. Now Kemp over Victorino in center? C’mon man!

Congrats to Polly, too bad Vic and Chooch couldn’t have won too.

Congrats to Polly as well. It really says a lot that he played that well defensively with all the injuries he had last season.

This is interesting, I had no idea. I would have thought that Cal Ripken, or someone else that switched positions did it. Anyway, straight from the Phillies Website-
“Polanco, 36, joins Darin Erstad as the only players in big league history to win a Gold Glove at multiple positions. Polanco won Gold Gloves as a second baseman while playing for the Tigers in 2007 and ’09.”

Nice list, doesn’t seem to be anyone in there you look at and go ‘well your bat clearly helped your glove’… Shame Vic didn’t retain his though.
Laughing at the suggestion Kemp could have been had on the cheap last off-season, maybe in a fantasy league. Chickens not MLB young studs go cheap, unless your Marlon Byrd or Lastings Milleage and wasted so many opportunities. I’m sure Kemp would have been available, for all a teams top prospects that is.
