2012 Spring Training, News, Posts
Spring training is in full swing as the entire squad begins practicing together for the first time today and game action begins in just eight days.
Fans will be able to access 31 of the 34 matchups, essentially a game each day, on the Phillies spring training schedule via TV and radio broadcasts. Most notable, every home game at Bright House Field in Clearwater will be televised during the 2012 season.
The team will also be featured on the radio with 16 game broadcasts airing on 1210 WPHT/94 WIP, both home and away in Florida as well as at Citizens Bank Park for the On-Deck Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 2 and 3.
Comcast SportsNet will carry three games including the first spring training game of the season against the New York Yankees on March 3.
The Phillies will air on PHL17 three times including the final spring training home game against the Toronto Blue Jays on March 31.
The Comcast Network will broadcast eleven games in Clearwater including a 1:05 p.m. St. Patrick’s Day telecast against the Blue Jays. Fans will get a sneak peek at 2012 promotional items during that game as well.
ESPN has picked up three games at home against the Detroit Tigers on March 19, Boston Red Sox on March 26 and Tampa Bay Rays on March 29.
In addition, fans can view road games on MLB Network, including when the Phillies take on the Yankees on March 4 and 30 as well as the Blue Jays on March 18.

Because I am in Baltimore, not Philly, I depend on the MLB Network for ST games. If I counted right this year us out of town folks will be able to see 16 games on MLB Network, but some at strange hours 6am, 9am, and some late night, so get your DVR’s working overtime. And the 3 ESPN games. That’s more than ever before!

They should really consider streaming the Comcast Network via the net. If it’s good enough for the Superbowl, it’s good enough for a few preseason games, no?

I remember just a few years back when we were lucky to get the Sunday spring training games on channel 17… Oh how Phillies baseball has changed!

Also, apparently if you get mlb.tv, you can watch all spring training games with no black out restrictions.
