2012 Gameday, Posts
Philadelphia Phillies (39-51) at Los Angeles Dodgers (48-41)
Joe Blanton (7-8, 4.98) vs. Nathan Eovaldi (1-5, 4.21)
Time: 10:10 PM ET, Dodger Stadium
TV: CSN
Weather: Sunny, 71
Media: Twitter and Facebook
The Phillies won a series! They need to carry the momentum into Los Angeles, and take a series from the Dodgers.
Joe Blanton needs to keep the ball in the yard; he’s given up at least one home run during his last eleven starts. Perhaps that streak can end since the Dodgers are last in the National League when it comes to homers.
Eovaldi is coming off his first win of the season. This will be the first time Eovaldi faces the Phils. He has only 18 major league games under his belt. Eovaldi tends to allow baserunners, as he has allowed 78 hits and 37 walks in 81.2 career innings (1.41 WHIP). The Phillies haven’t had trouble getting baserunners this year; their problem has been driving them in.
Your Gameday Beer- Port Brewing Co. SPA (summer pale ale)
You’ll need something to refresh you, and that won’t be easy on his hot evening. That’s why we present to you a refreshing summer pale ale from Port Brewing, from Southern California. SPA is a largely citric and piney blast of hop aromas that greet you. It has a very dry finish, but will refresh you nonetheless. Some corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, and filets on the grill would kindly go with this brew. -By Pat

Other than Shane being an idiot, why would he attempt to steal 3rd when your Power Hitter (we are waiting) is at bat?

I think that’s right, Brooks. Makes me think of that MLB spot with all the players speaking in short clips, and Vic says “I will lead the League in triples.”

this is where Charlies incompetance comes in.
It is also where his abusing the big arms the last few years has killed us this year.

I often have trouble with names. I keep thinking that Schwimmer’s first name is David because of the actor from Friends. And then I think the guy from Friends is Michael. I’m get myself all mixed up. I propose that we change the pitcher’s first name to “Ahh fudge.” Because whenever I see him warming up in the bullpen, I say, “Ahh fudge, Schwimer!”

I like it Morris – since Fudge is the same color as crap, I haven’t been too far off when I see him coming in.. “Awe Crap! Schwimmer!”

Heres the crux of the entire problem,
one run game in the 8th
And Charlie will let Howard hit vs a lefty
You cannot win with this mindset.
Even if they win tonight.

An extra 2 or 3 runs would look pretty good here

“Fudge” is not the word I first typed, or say to myself. I cleaned it up for these message boards.

Schwimer might be the worst pitcher the Phillies have had since the black hole of baseball that was the late 90′s.

K Rod just struck out the side.
But we have paplebomb.
So you can hit Howard in the 8th vs a lefty to score no runs.
Reminds me of over pitching the staff last year to win 102 games and lose in round 1.
I guess it works in some circles.

Yea, I don’t know why Charlie did not use one of the heaps of garbage on the bench to hit for Howard either.

Paplebomb or Paplebum?
Any piece of garbage including some of the pitchers do more vs lefties.
But some like the 25,000,000.00 piece of garbage more.
Go figure.
