Philadelphia Phillies (40-51) at Los Angeles Dodgers (48-43)

Roy Halladay (4-5, 3.98) vs. Stephen Fife, RHP

Time: 10:10 PM ET, Dodger Stadium
TV:
CSN
Weather: Sunny, 72
Media: Twitter and Facebook

The Phillies put together a three game winning streak!  Can they make it four in a row?  The return of Roy Halladay gives the Phillies a decent chance.

Doc is back!  Halladay will be making his first appearance since May 27, when he suffered from a right lat strain.  Halladay will be under a tight pitch count, but it’s always nice to have the ace back in the rotation, even if he only lasts five or six innings.  Halladay has had success at Dodger Stadium, posting a 2.15 ERA.

The return of Halladay comes at a perfect time: the Phillies are riding a three game winning streak.  Halladay’s return certainly gives the Phillies a boost, and hopefully they can carry the momentum.  They need all the help they can get if they want to turn the season around.

Stephen Fife will be making his Major League debut.  In 18 starts in Triple-A this year, Fife is 7-5 with a 4.53 ERA.

Your gameday beer: Any beer that calls itself “Entire Butt” is good in my book. But Entire Butt Porter might be the greatest beer ever created. Full of taste, it goes down like water that was magically sprayed by the gods. So godly water, really. That’s the general focus of the discussion. What do you eat with this? Something with mild spice. Something that makes you want to run to the beer and enjoy every last sip. Something … well, something warm, is the gist of the explanation I’m making. Go with beef and peppers. –By Tim

this man does have some heat.
Will he try to blow it by our Big Piece? I know AFW is on the edge of his seat (trying not to spill another drop!)

They are unable to manufacture runs

At least its a righty Morris so I say let the big contract hit!

The average NL team has come back to win 2.7 times when trailing afer 7. So the Phillies should be 3-35 instead of 0-38.

Under Pants might be the only Phillies hitter who hits better when the pitcher is having control issues.

Yes Hunter if you swing at first pitch it needs t be hit hard

I haven’t wanted the Phils to win a game this much since….hmm…last night, I guess.

But if the pen can do their jobs now, with the late inning comeback, and the feel good story for Doc, there’s life.

And life, by a hair might not seem like much, but it’s a start, and so much better than before the break.

Hang on here – I only have the MLB feed – how did Chooch not make it to second base when Mayberry scored from second? Did he not run when the ball was hit?

And Mccarthy says he keeps him in the yard.

Trust me other announcers dont consider an opposing team getting a hit in the 8th as a good thing.

That really looked like strike 3. I thought Ethier was more frustrated with himself.

Wonder if the bottom of the lineup can contribute to tonight’s to this point team effort now, and get some insurance.

Good ballgame tonight. Would have made for a nice playoff game.

Course a good ballgame is ultimate;ly defined by a Phillies win.

All said and done – EXCELLENT job by Doc. Coming off a very long layoff, he gave up 2 runs and walked none. Great job.
A come from behind victory – we knew the Phils still had one left in them!! Hunter Pence with the big hit! AB looking like the AB of last year. KK looking sweet out of the pen and guess what, the old man pulling all the strings – It doesn’t matter 2 hit batters and a walk, it doesn’t matter, he does not hit for them either – he juked and jived, twisted and turned and the Phils pulled it out – nice Job Cholly

I thought Charlie did some nice things bullpen management wise, I’m on board with you on that.

Mostly, the guys he called on EXECUTED.

That always helps. Well, if it’s done.

I was so pissed off earlier. I went to Modell’s at 9:30 this morning and waited for a half hour for them to open. Much to my surprise, well, more like disappointment, they did not have a single t-shirt to commemorate Johnathan Papelbon have 20 or more saves in 7 straight seasons. I was planning on buying them for the whole family. I’ll check again tomorrow.

It’s a game of execution, but what a night of inspiration.

The Phils were funner to watch again.

Makeshift lineup tomorrow, and CK is a gem, but the Phils historically do well against him., What a great time for Cliff to throw a good one.

    Strive for five.

They have their whole lineup back. No excuses now. It’s not like earlier in the season when you had a few AAA players in the lineup. Great win tonight. Nice job by KK.
