Analysis, News, Phillies Nation TV, Posts
It’s the latest episode of Phillies Nation TV! Corey and I start off with, what else, Cole Hamels rumors. Will he, or won’t he, stay with the Phils? The deadline is just a week away.
We then play deal or no deal as Ian Riccaboni joins the program to discuss a slew of Phillies who have popped up in rumors.
Then, Natalie is back with reader comments and questions, and Jay Floyd stops by to get into Dom Brown, Tyson Gillies, and Ryne Sandberg.
Enjoy!

There is something about this whole Cole Hamels thing that smells like dookie to me. These rumors from Salisbury in particular, saying the team is “in effect” trying really hard, doing everything they can etc., seems like an all out PR precurser to being able to say- Well, everyone knows how much we wanted to sign Cole, and how hard we worked and tried to get it done. So that if he doesn’t sign, it’s all on Cole (maybe it is) and don’t blame us and keep buying your tickets, and blah blah blah…..
If they offer the right package, he’ll take it, if they don’t he won’t. He basically said he will allow them to match after testing the market, so not signing him in the next few days doesn’t mean he’s gone. But I just feel like all we hear is a bunch of PR crap, and they feed it to the press, (no offense PN) and the press loves it, and they feed it to us, and the readers, and viewers love it.
IMO- if all were quiet on the eastern front, we’d probably all be better off.

Sounds to me more like reporters trying to make up news from scant information. Rumors can start anywhere, from snippets of bathroom stall conversation taken out of context, to dirtbags making up “facts” just for the fun of screwing with people’s heads.
But you are absolutely ight when you say “if all were quiet on the eastern front, we’d probably all be better off.”

Yeah, I mean Cole told them the number. Had to of. Ruben just can’t get there. I would not be surprised if Ruben is not bargaining with Cole but with his won owners to give him some more money. Would not be surprised.

If you don’t wear them a lot, why should anyone else?
In my opinion, neckties are a waste of cloth and totally passe. (Please excuse the lack of the accent on passe; that’s the fault of the internet, not my misspelling). They are basically just a decorative noose to remind people of the consequences should they misbehave. They even feel like nooses. There was even a prince a few years ago who berated the tie publicly. I forget what he called them, but it wasn’t complimentary.
Let the guys wear what they want. I’d be fine with ratty T-shirts and cutoffs. It’s the reporting that counts!
