Philadelphia Phillies (48-59) vs Arizona Diamondbacks (55-52)

Cliff Lee (2-6, 3.73) vs Trevor Cahill (9-9, 3.75)

Time: 1:35 PM, Citizens Bank Park
TV: WPHL
Weather: Upper 80′s/Lower 90′s, sunny
Media: Twitter and Facebook

The Phillies look to take the series win today against the Diamondbacks, as they send Cliff Lee out on the mound. I think it’s safe to say that Lee won’t have to worry about any of the trade rumors that have been swirling. Ruben Amaro Jr. came out and stated that Lee “isn’t going anywhere”, and I believe him.

Lee is coming off one of his best starts of 2012, where he threw seven innings of shutout baseball on Tuesday against the Nationals.

Trevor Cahill will be on the mound for the D-Backs. Back on April 25, he allowed four runs in 5.1 innings in a 7-2 loss to the Phils.

Jimmy Rollins streak of 62 straight games started is over, as he gets the day off today after getting scratched from the original lineup.

Lineup: Schierholtz RF, Frandsen 3B, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Mayberry CF, Brown LF, Kratz C, Martinez SS, Lee P

Philadelphia Original LagerBrewed by Red Bell Brewery out of the Brewerytown neighborhood of Philadelphia, this beer is a classic microbrew lager. It’s a bit heavier than Yuengling, with more of a roasted malt flavor and some sweet coffee and caramel hints. Its supreme drinkability coupled with a pour that looks like iced tea means you can sneakily house several of these bad boys. Have your favorite pasta with some marinara sauce and a few Philly Lagers. – By Brian

And theres Donald M. Wheeler saying

Look Halladay and Lee havent won back to back all year.

    Unimaginable.

Like being in last place. Or losing to the Cardinals or Giants.

Unless maybe some retard in Waldorf predicted everything.

I just hope they dont hit it to short.

There is an empty spot there now.

The balls just flying out there

Its the wind and the heat.

I mean minus Cliff and his 135 million contract ( and 2 wins) they would be
    46-61

    Oh my!

Can they survive without him? Waivers?

I am just glad hes here.
And Valdez and Blanton and all the other midling scrubs are gone.

I think Lee’s next start will be in a Dodger uniform, and I think that’s the smart move for the Phillies to make. Just wave goodbye and get out from under that contract.

It’s a damn shame Utley’s knees suck. He’s hitting HR’s at about a “40 per year pace” since he returned.

Ok Jeff D, if Lee isn’t here here’s the rotation:

    Hamels
    Halladay
    Worley
    Kendrick
    Cloyd??

A lot of ifs but I guess a better rotation going into the season than 2008′s.

It doesn’t matter what the 2013 rotation is, the rest of Lee’s deal isn’t even remotely close to being team friendly. He turns 34 in a few weeks and if you count the 2016 buyout, he’ll be getting paid an average of over $29 million a season from 2013-2015. That’s just insane for a pitcher who has already seen his best days. This waiver claim by the Dodgers is RAJ’s chance to hand that bad contract over to someone else.

Nothing against Lee, he’s still a good pitcher. This is just a great opportunity to shed a contract that will look worse and worse as each season goes by.

I see where Sterling Joe Blanton gave up a run in his 1st inning as a Dodger. But he kept the ball in the park.

Phils will probably score this inning, being as Pierre is leading off.

Here’s where I do my Brooks immitation.

RyHo has K’d in 25 of his last 52 PAs.

Why he’s not getting all take signs with Mini mart not available to PH is beyond me.

    C’mon Ryan. Drill one.

No way Howard wins it. Waste of space.

Get rid of lee. All that money we can use to build this team.

    So long, last place.

It’s been a thrill having a relationship with you for the last 90 days or so.

#clearoutandoutsarcasm, as they say in twitterville.
