Yes, we’re taking the rest of the 2012 season “one game at a time,” but we can still pause for a minute to look ahead at 2013. Namely, next year’s schedule was released today, and if you haven’t already heard, the Phillies home opener will be an interleague game against the Kansas City Royals on Friday, April 5th. Some other highlights include:
- The season opens on April 1 in Atlanta for a three game series with the Braves
- Interleague opponents next year are the Royals, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers
- The Phils have a weekend series in Chicago starting August 30, one in Detroit starting July 26 and three in DC (May 24, August 9, September 13). Road trip!
- The Phillies end the season with a seven-game road trip to Atlanta and Miami
- And as a reminder, the Houston Astros are moving to the American League

Strange schedule. Since there is an inter-league series going on at all times, I thought we’d be playing some in August and September, but we finish up by the All Star break.
So now we go to 19 games each against the division opponents. Of the other 10 teams, we play 6 of them 7 times, and 4 of them only 6 times.
Best enjoy these next four at Houston, we may not see them again for years.
