Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Ruiz were named NL Gold Glove finalists for 2012 last evening.

Managers, up to six coaches per team, and “qualified players” voted on the award this year, voting on players for their league but unable to vote for players on their own teams. Rollins, a three time winner from 2007 through 2009, is competing against finalists Zack Cozart, Ian Desmond, and Jose Reyes while Chooch looks to win his first Gold Glove among the pool of finalists, which includes Yadier Molina and Miguel Montero. Rollins ranked fifth among qualified NL shortstops in UZR/150 while catching metrics are tougher to quantify.

The winners will be announced at 9:30 PM on ESPN 2 this evening.

Whats up guys, I’m an aspiring blogger/writer myself and I love the phils and this site and follow them contently the big club and the farm. So I was just wondering if I could maybe throw in some articles every once in a while about our farm? If there’s any chance this is possible just email me at tcorch1313@gmail.com. Thanks.

Tommy, I do not work for the blog, but just wanted to let you know there is a tab up on the top of this page called “about us”. If you go there you will see where to email the site administrators about contributing. I’m sure they’ll be glad to hear from you.

I am not sure that JRoll deserves a gold glove this year but up against the other finalist I would say he should win. Would love to see Chooch get one because I think he has deserved on the last couple of years.

The Gold Glove loses more and more credibility every season, so I don’t care much whether any Phils win or not.

I’d rather see the Cast Iron Glove award, or The Granite Staue Award. At least those would provide a few laughs.

how about a wall of shame? we have had our share over the years of truly shameful players. i’d like to see some of you guys come up with a list. it will help ease the pain of no baseball till spring. and maybe give us a few laughs. i’ll start with the current team from 2012 and i’m sorry if i jump on this guy before most of you guys but it’s got to be none other than.
2012…mini mart wall of shame winner
2011… fill in the blank fellas
