Young Up for Challenge at Third Base

Michael Young spoke to reporters today about his trade to the Phillies over the weekend. He says he’s ready to take on third base.
There is no press conference scheduled for Young in Philadelphia as of yet.

I believe Michael Young still has an upside at bat and in the field, plus it will be nice to have his personality in the clubhouse. He’s the consummate pro. I’d be happy to get one or two good years out of him.
And while Young may have aging legs, at least we know he’ll run out ground balls instead of heading for the dugout like some players. Maybe that will help put some fire and focus into this somnambulant team of ours.

To be honest, I’m a lot more interested in his results than whether he puts on a good show down the first base line. I believe the best cure for somnambulism is scoring runs and winning (not the other way around), and no matter how energized a team is, they will look like they’re sleep walking if they can’t get anything going on offense.
