The Phillies have an opportunity to avenge yesterday’s loss, sending John Lannan to the hill to square off with Jeff Niemann. Dom Brown, hitting .424, and Ryan Howard, hitting .364, are once again in the line-up, back-to-back.
Other notable line-up quirks today: Freddy Galvis makes his first Spring start at third base, Yuniesky Betancourt gets another shot with Jimmy Rollins playing with Team USA to outplay Galvis and the hot-hitting Kevin Frandsen, and Cody Asche’s extended look continues.
Line-Up
1. Revere – CF
2. Galvis – 3B
3. Utley – 2B
4. Howard – 1B
5. Brown – LF
6. Nix – RF
7. Asche – DH
8. Betancourt – SS
9. Quintero – C

The Phillies have about 10 relievers that don’t amount to horse spit. These guys are awful!

Breaking news you can use.
And saving the best for last.
After the game today, the Phils announced some cuts. Perhaps it is noteworthy to reveal who wasn’t cut since BJ Rosenberg is still with the ballclub. The presence of BJ staying in big league camp serves as a reminder that over plays should not be ruled out on days after he’s had an off day.
Gone, but leaving an impression for 12 months down the raod, if not sooner for unforseen or exposure reasons are Cody Asche and Tommy Joseph. Adam Morgan and Kyle Simon are gone, meaning the Phils will lose fewer games by b;pwouts than they have already. Cept if BJ pitches, of course.
Also gone is JC Ramirez.
:ast but not least, 24 hours after Bart Shart made public an e mail he sent to RAJ Jr, all but demanding the slicing of the Mart that’s known as Mini., the Phils announced that Mike Martinez was sent to minor league camp. Bart’s power broker capabilities are not to be disrespected. I am hopeful Mini has a nice life, but fails to keep in touch.

Asche was re-assigned to Minor League camp… He seems like he’s a gamer. Not exceptional at anything but pretty good at a lot of things and very smart.

If they could get anything for JMJ they would be crazy not to listen. Enciarte, Ruf, Nix… They’ve got some depth.

I can’t really quantify it… Smart base running (not running into outs, running hard on contact), decent fielding (one error in a pretty high pressure situation) and very few wasted at bats. Small sample and I wasn’t on the Asche train before but I think he can be a decent player somewhere. Polanco esque…
