marlins-miami-new-logoPhiladelphia Phillies (31-30) vs Milwaukee Brewers (22-37)

Cliff Lee (7-2, 2.45) vs Alfredo Figaro (0-0, 3.67)

TIME: 8:10, Miller Park
TV:
CSN
Weather: 60′s, Mostly Cloudy
Media: Twitter and Facebook

The Phillies will take the field tonight with a winning record for the first time this season. And who better than Cliff Lee to lead them another game over the .500 mark. He’ll get the ball for the Phils tonight, and his last start was also against the Brewers–he gave up three runs over seven innings.

Relief pitcher Alfredo Figaro will start for the Brewers, as he’s taking the place of injured Marco Estrada in the rotation. He also saw the Phillies last week, and he pitched 3.1 scoreless innings.

Lee might have some trouble with Ryan Braun tonight, as Braun is 9-19 against the Phillies lefty. He is, however nursing a thumb injury.

Lineup: M. Young 3B, Mayberry CF, Rollins SS, Howard 1B, Dom LF, Delmon RF, Kratz C, Galvis 2B, Lee P

GAMEDAY BEER: Yuengling Lager

You know it, and you know it well. You call for it simply by saying “I’ll have a lager.” It’s a staple of the Philadelphia region and really never lets you down. From time to time I’ll order one if a beer list isn’t tickling my fancy. It’s just there. It never wows you. It’s like the Juan Pierre of beers. He won’t blow you away, doesn’t hit for power, but always gives a decent showing when you need him. -Pat Gallen

GO PHILLIES!

Why don’t we start Hernandez over galvis

Pretty simple..Galvis is a better player.

Better defensively maybe, Hernandez is a pretty good player why not play him while he’s up here and see what we get

No Shit.. all through the minors Hernandez numbers are better than galvis.. he’s a better hitter and has more speed.. Freddy is great defensively but a less than solid hitter

Galvis so far.. 0-2 w/ 2k’s… fueling the win streak..

Wow tie game.. thanks to error by Galvis… glad this isn’t tryouts

Why not use both? — i.e. use Hernandez to spell Galvis every so often.. Galvis was obviously tired tonight. Hernandez could use the playing the time. The same thing is true for Fransden/M. Young and L. Nix/Howard.

Hernandez is only up until Chase comes back.. I’m not for letting Chase walk after this season or trading him but if that’s Rubens plan then why not play Hernandez and see if he can play everyday in the majors see if he’s ready because Galvis is not

Wonder what the most curveballs Pfifer ever threw in a game was. Hoever many, it’s not enough. Vicious last pitch of a workmanlike first inning.

Like to get to Galvis thisinnuing with a scoring chance after his way overmatched first at bat and see what adjustment (s) he makes.

Um, speaking of wayyyy overmatched, RyK.

I wouldn’t describe Cliff as like super sharp, but I think we can say game, set, match after that Kratz shot.

Is this the same ballclub I watched a week ago/ A run away from 5 minimum runs in 6 straight. Not bad.

    So much for Galvis.

At least 4 players executed that rundown. That was one weird play.

There was a 3-2-2 double play a night or two back.

Life was simpler then, I guess. This time, half the roster finally got 1 out. And Yni ran a half marathone. Good conditioning exercise.

    Im torn here.

This team can probably finish ahead of the Nationals.

My Mets bet is a lock.

But as they win games it means a longer tenure for Ruben.

I definitely think they are over coming his incompetency. They aren’t succeeding because of him.

In the end I want them to win every game played.

I hope Jimmy wasn’t mentoring Galvis on how to pop up.
Or run the bases ( love the Rose photo Ken E. Baseball)

    Re : the Nationals

Watching them when they were trotting out Bryce when he was crippled told me a lot of things.

Davey gets it that without him they aren’t that good. And are very vulnerable.

He should have missed time as soon as he hit the wall.

For the Phils take advantage of the other teams mistakes.

Memo to Charlie Manuel ( McNabb)

Its not a tie after 9 innings. There is over time (extra innings)

I hope Nix and Revere come through for you.

Not sure why Horst was pitching. He has been mostly used as a left-handed specialist. Segura, Braun and Ramirez are a pretty tough bunch. DeFratus and Adams were presumably available. In this case, I might have gone with Papelbon in the 9th. If he gets the Brewers out, the Brewers are almost out of pitchers for extra innings. It’s not the usual strategy to use a closer on the road in a tie game in the 9th but if Papelbon can get the Phillies to the 10th inning, who did the Brewers have left?

There are 100 games remaining so the team just has to get back up and play hard tomorrow.

Charlie was managing an inning behind tonight. Should have replaced D Young in the 7th. Should have also replaced Lee in the 7th, He was already over 100 pitches. You cant win every game but this one hurts. Ugly defense rears its ugly head.

    This is your team.
As they fail with the ignorance they thrive with the same ignorance.

No one really wants to deal with the issues.

    Brown will hit away.

Then Ruben and the people here will wait for Rollins and Howard.

    They are the best players.

    Utley gone and you win.

Make Rollins and Howard gone and win some more?

Galvis at first second and third?

    Dedication to Howard and Rollins.

    Its priceless.

    But you are in last.

    Remember 2007?

    They were good.
