The Fightins went 1-10 in the stretch without Brown, being outscored 67 to 24. Brown probably would not have been able to erase the 43 run differential all by himself but may have been able to help in the five one or two run games the Phillies lost in that run.

Amazingly, Brown lost almost no ground in the NL Home Run race during his injury. With his 27th homer last night, Brown sits just two homers behind the suddenly-smoking Paul Goldschmidt (8 HR in his last 19 games) and the Pirates’ consistent power threat Pedro Alvarez for the NL crown. In a season full of disappointments, Brown’s performance has not been one of them.

If Brown can make up the two homer deficit, he would be the first Phillie since Ryan Howard in 2008 to win the National League home run title. Brown would join eight other Phillies who have won the NL Home Run crown if he could achieve the feat. Can Brown join the ranks of Mike Schmidt, Chuck Klein, and Jim Thome?

According to my projections, the winner would require about 40 homers to win it, meaning Brown would need to hit 13 in the final 42 games, or one every three games which is certainly a doable pace. Thoughts?

Who are the others 4 Phillies besides Howard, Thome, Schmidt, and Klein to lead the NL in HRs?

    And this is something?

In the Ruben and fan world of having a .307 on base guy hitting first?

    Lets really have some fun.

I remember reading here about Howard and his 500 home run potential.

You add that with Rollins hitting first every day a .307 and Utleys extension and we are really having a good time.

Has Brown been extended until hes in his mid 60s yet?

    Ruben you can do it.

If he wins the HR title that’s waaaaaay more impressive than us making the playoffs or being relevant

To the ultimate hater, you must have a sad life to react to every thread the way you do. Amaro is nowhere near as bad as you make him out to be, you sound like a spoiled ungrateful 16 year old. Things don’t work out move on the phillies will not be a contender your whole life get over it.

I appreciate your general sentiment about positivity here, and share it, evening. But you’re mistaken about Ruben: he is exactly as bad as he’s being made out to be.

I’m not a big fan of comments about other people that post, just my own opinion that it’s best to stay on the subject, or try to find an article where a comment’s appropriate, but I’ll offer a thought on your post. Strictly one person’s opinion, and I don’t set the guidelines around here, further evidencing the insignificance of this, though obviously there
s some inspiration to post it..

I don’t know what you were attempting to convey to the ultimate hater. That’s some really strong stuff that you took some real liberties on conveying, and it would seem like the only message conveyed was you dislike his thoughts. Lotta stretch on what he’s like in real life, if you ask me. There are a fair amount of people on the site that I don’t care for, and while the best message boards at least seem to be ones with ignore features, I’ve gotten at least fairly decent at screening through them. I might suggest that. Obviously, you do what you want, but that seemed out of line.

That hardly means I’m perfect at staying away from some level of personal stuff myself, but I at least try and am usually successful at not taking shots at other folks, even if they’re among those I have a distaste for.

      Exhale, send, and asta.

It’s possible. One of the benefits of playing for a garbage team-you can pad your stats.
