Five years ago, following two rain soaked days, the Phillies finished off the Tampa Bay Rays for their first title in 28 years. October 29, 2008 will live in the hearts of Phillies fans forever. Seems like a million years ago.

So many memories come rushing back from that game, that series, that postseason. From the Victorino grand slam off Sabathia to the Stairs moon shot off Broxton, some of the greatest sports moments in our town’s history were made that year.

So we ask, what was your favorite memory from the 2008 World Series run?

SO many good moments. In order:

    1. “The 0-2 pitch…SWING AND A MISS, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ARE 2008 WORLD CHAMPIONS OF BASEBALL!”

    2. Shane Victorino’s grand slam off Sabathia (after Brett Myers worked a ridiculous walk), this was the moment where I thought we might actually have a chance to win something here.

    3. Matt Stairs’ moonshot.

    4. Chase Utley’s heads-up fake to first/toss to home.

    5. Brett Myers’ three hits in the NLCD

    6. Joe Blanton’s home run

    7. Chooch’s walk-off tapper

    8. Victorino’s tying HR in the NLCS

    9. Pat Burrell’s Game 5 double

    10. Everything Cole Hamels did

Such a great week. I got married Nov. 1; the night of the Chooch tapper was my bachelor party, which got sidetracked in the best way possible b/c of the rain delay. We ended up watching the game at Moriarty’s instead of our original plans. Our rehearsal party was downtown the night of the parade. I watched both parts of Game 5 at the Bishop’s Collar. Awesome all around.
