Atlanta Braves (9-4) at Philadelphia Phillies (6-7)

Starting Pitchers:
PHI: Cliff Lee (2-1, 5.50)
vs.
ATL: Julio Teheran (1-1, 2.84)

Time: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
TV: CSN
Weather: Sunny, 50

A Note for Tonight:

On Monday night, the Phillies ripped a defeat from the jaws of victory. The Phillies bullpen once again imploded as BJ Rosenberg, pitching in his third straight game, gave up back, to back, to back homeruns. The Phillies were able to come back and take the lead, but it was quickly squandered as Jake Diekman surrendered a grand slam to Braves second baseman Dan Uggla. The Phillies bullpen has now given up seven homeruns which is more homeruns than the entire Tigers & Padres pitching staffs.

Luckily for the Phillies Cliff Lee has really good numbers against the Braves. In 15 career games he has posted a 2.80 ERA. His 113 K’s & 7 BB is the best K/BB ratio in MLB history by a starting pitcher against 1 team with a minimum of 15 starts.

Lineup: Revere CF / Rollins SS / Utley 2B / Howard 1B / Byrd RF / Brown LF / Ruiz C / Galvis 3B / Lee P

    The Nationals are deeply flawed.

The rest of the division is so bad.

I do have Marlon Byrd now in fantasy with Josh Hamiltons injury.

86 wins may win the division.

Unfortunately the Phillies probably cant get to 86

    Go Phils!

Deeply is best defined as showing 20 signs of inadequacy.

The Nats play the Braves 19 times.

And there goes deeply….deep into the night.

The Andrew From Waldorf positivity pre game show has been brought to you by Church’s Fried Chicken, the home of winner, winner, chicken dinner. And by Ruben “Blue Seats” Minaya.

    Phillies Baseball is nexxxt.

The Nats manager is a bit of a buffoon.

But they could probably win the division with me hitting 4th and playing first.

Its that level of a division.

    the empty seats are something.

Ruben must be a great guy in real life and people must really like him.

Because his presence is now costing them fans in the seats.

I think if he was fired attendance would spike.

That’s just how bad he has done his job.

    The empty seats is funny.

Wow. The attendance is getting Marlinesque. Jimmy was right. Frontrunners,

    Frontrunners my ass.

The Cubs suck and always will suck forever because their fans accept and support it.

I would not attend and do not support this team as long as Ruben has a job.

    Why should people attend?

This is the 3rd highest pay roll.

It should not be like this.

    The fans handed them something.

And they refuse to do anything for the fans.

As I type this Ruben is still the GM.

I applaud every fan who does not go until Ruben is fired.

He is not capable of ever turning this around.

How else can you show the team this is not acceptable then by not attending?

And this isnt a team on a natural decline with ebbs and flows.

This is a destruction done solely by 1 man.

The Cardinals contend and continue to contend because they let players walk away and don’t over pay for them.

Ruben is not able to grasp that.

lol .you just described a ‘frontrunner’.

When the product is good-fans support it. When it’s not, they don’t . Exactly what is happening now. Has nothing to do with Ruben, No matter who is the GM,if this garbage product is out on the field;nobody is interested.

This game is brutal. And listening to T-Mac and Moyer is making it worse. Nice guy Moyer but he’s not exactly Mr. Dynamic.

I fell asleep for a few innings and dreamt that Ryan Howard beat out an infield hit! Dreams are strange like that huh?

Please win this thing now so Sandberg doesn’t put Lee back out there to start the 10th with 127 pitches.

    This team absolutely blows!!!

    Attendance: 23,382.

    3 total hits.

This is not he best baseball team I have ever seen.

I really think the Phillies and Ruben Amaro in particular could have invested their $180,000,000.00 pay roll more wisely.

I also do think Ruben has a cloud over this team and if he was to be removed or to resign that the team would play better and more fans would attend as they would be hopeful.
    Amaro has killed hope.

I cant decide whether to use disgraceful or pathetic so I will use both.

The dwindling attendance (along with declining Comcast ratings) is what will eventually lead to Amaro’s demise. Unfortunately, it probably won’t happen until next season.

I’ll see you guys down at the park tomorrow. The first Bubba Burger hits the Weber grill about 9AM!

Another tough loss too watch. It’s ashame the offense couldn’t produce for Lee; he pitched excellent. However, so did Teheran. Hopefully, we can salvage a win tomorrow.

I haven’t attended a game this year. In the past, my friend who is a season ticket holder would give me tickets to his games that he could not make with his partner, and I would only have to pay for the bridge toll, and a round of beer. It was a pretty sweet deal – great seats and free games. However, this year, he did not renew his package. Having been a season ticket holder for awhile, he said his money could be better spent, as he feels that Amaro has assembled a poor team, allocated poor conteacts, and has not really filled any deficiencies, despite having a large amount of financial backing to work with to help the team. This coming from a guy who was a ticket holder through those dark years.

Personally, I am hoping to take my daughter to her first game this summer, even though I know it could be a rough season. Just exposing her to the game, the players, and the stadium will be enough.

I really think $hit rolls downhill here as far as the bullpen. Amaro has really made some poor contracts and signings (Papelbon’s contract, signing Qualls and Durbin). While Rube has really helped to hinder the bullpen, brought in a phantom pitching coach in McClure (so far, I’m with Chuck on this), the real problem lies in the fact that we have really produced, besides Hamels, any solid starting pitchers, and having to look elsewhere to fill that void, which was expensive. Nor do we have solid relievers that were developed. Diekman could be one, but he really needs to consistently hit his stride this year to do it, since he is 27. Hollands has promise, too. I think this front office really needs to look at development, especially in the pitching area. Teams like the cardinals are doing it right. Just my two cents that has a hardly any value at all.

While I am l for people like us not going to games as long as Ruben is employed.

I also am for taking kids and exposing them to the greatest game ever created.

Its a shame they will be exposed to the product Ruben has given us.

Maybe take a kid to a minor league game.

It is really a great experience.
