Philadelphia Phillies (10-10) at Los Angeles Dodgers (12-9)

Starting Pitchers:
PHI: LHP Cole Hamels (0-0, 0.00)
LAD: RHP Zach Greinke (3-0, 2.42)

Time: 10:10, Dodger Stadium
TV: Comcast Sportsnet
Weather: Sunny, 70
Media: Twitter and Facebook

A Note for Tonight:

Cole Hamels makes his long awaited season debut tonight. What better place for Hamels to make his season debut than in a stadium that has been home away from home for him. Hamels is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in four career starts at Dodger Stadium. The three-time All-Star will look to solidify the top of the rotation alongside Cliff Lee and AJ Burnett. Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg made it clear that there will be no restrictions for Hamels who is starting in his first major league game since September 25th of last year. Hamels will be looking to help the Phillies clinch a series win in this four game set against the Dodgers.

Standing in the way for the Dodgers is their ace Zach Greinke. Greinke may very well be the best pitcher in the National League right now. Greinke, who won his first three starts of the season before getting a no-decision last Friday, has not allowed more than two runs in any of his four starts this season. The Dodger right-hander has gone 10-1 with a 1.71 ERA in his last 15 starts dating back to last season. As good as Cole Hamels has pitched against the Dodgers, Greinke has been even better against the Phillies going 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last four games against them. Adrian Gonzalez will not be in the lineup for the Dodgers tonight which I’m sure Cole Hamels has no problem with. This game is setup to be a pitching duel with two of the best pitchers in the National League squaring off against each other.

Snap, did I see 94 mph from Cole Hamels?

The Senators were all set to lose again.

The one of my relievers Feirelo of the Angels blew the save.

    Nats still have problems.

    Go Phils!!!

Orioles won – Cruz with 2 hrs, including a slam and 5 rbi.
    Davis homered again.

Is Asche hurt? I think his .196 average would probably do better than Galvis at .050.. I mean, really

Good pitching and hitting by cole so far… First hit for the phils today

Another stat I saw tonight marlon Byrd has now struck out 26 times this year to Ryan Howard’s 25… Pretty sad

Here’s another choice for you Hogey – Byrd with his 26 K’s, 12 rbi and a .250 BA or John Mayberry hitting .200?
I’d stay with Byrd for a while longer.

Howard has only the 24th highest K rate in MLB before tonight. Byrd with the 9th highest before tonight.

All Howard has to do is hit the ball, not pop up or ground out, just a fly to the outfield

    That’ll do

    Howard is back.

    Like Pujos!

I have Byrd in fantasy because Josh Hamilton got hurt.

    My fault

Say Andrew, which field did Ryan hit that single to?

  • Posts: 0 Andrew from Waldorf

    That would be left Brooks.

If he had thought about hitting it there or taking pitches a few years ago who knows how much better he had been.

But the past is the past.

If he gets to 120 walks ever.

He will finish top 3 in MVP balloting.

    Been saying that forever.

This is not the best bullpen I have ever seen.

Figure you could come with some negativity toward Howard. Just caught up to real time on DVR. I have to say this is the first time this year I’ve seen the whole team forget about taking a walk. Swinging at some real bad pitches. And Hamels couldn’t have gone out there for the 7th at what 75 pitches with this pen. Maybe there will be a ninth inning comeback. All in all good game from Cole with the exception of walking Grenke.
