2014 Gameday, Posts

Philadelphia Phillies (10-11) at Los Angeles Dodgers (13-9)

Starting Pitchers:
PHI: RHP Kyle Kendrick (0-2, 3.60 ERA)
vs.
LAD: RHP Dan Haren (3-0, 2.16 ERA)

Time: 10:10, Dodger Stadium
TV: Comcast Sportsnet
Weather: Sunny, 72
Media: Twitter and Facebook

A Note for Tonight:

Tonight’s pitching matchup is a bit lopsided in the Dodgers favor, with their fill-in ace Dan Haren squaring off against Kyle Kendrick. Haren is 3-0 on the season with a 2.16 ERA. He had a bit of a struggle in his last start, but came away with 7.1 IP and just two earned runs. Kendrick gave up three earned runs in seven innings in his previous start, and was pegged with the loss. It wasn’t a bad start by any means, considering it was in Colorado. However, Kendrick has been up and down this year. Jimmy Rollins will get the night off, with Freddy Galvis filling in. In J-Roll’s absence, Carlos Ruiz has been put at the top of the lineup, hitting second.

Lineup:

Revere CF / Ruiz C / Utley 2B / Howard 1B / Byrd RF / Brown LF / Galvis SS / Asche 3B / Kendrick P

Although Haren is capable of putting up Ace like #’s i suspect he is playing above right now. This would be a good game for the Phils to steal away from the Dodgers.

The Senators are in extra innings vs the Padres.

The Mets took 3 of 4 from the Cardinals.

    Need this one.

    Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!1

Bat on ball… That’s all we needed there, that was absolutely ridiculous

I agree with both of you – quite a putrid display. While Glavis is very strong defensively, we are really miss Frandsen’s bat off the bench. Asche and Galvis are revisiting Mini Mart and John Old McDonald’s averages respectively, when they were with the team. I do not know about anyone else, but I dislike Uribe immensely, both now and when he was with the Giants. He has streaks of absolute zilch and then finds a way to burn us. Grrrr….

Revere, Chooch, The Man, and finally, Bryd, giving us the lead, but for how long?

    Wow this replay sucks.

They have to ruin the greatest game.

    Whats next the DH?

Making the sport with no strategy at all?

    Cool links Shecnkman.

Remember I live in Senators territory.

    They have big problems.

    Defense, base running, Hustle.

A first time manager way over managing.

85 wins may get the division.

AFW we can finally agree on something. I know there needs to be some firm of replay. But it has expanded to far,an umpires judgement call should not be replayed. And the new catchers rule is just flat out stupid. All because a pretty boy all star from San Fran gets hurt you have to change the game. MLB Really needs to revisit that rule and change it back

Is Andy Reid managing the Phillies?

Your bonehead infielder doesn’t make a routine play??

so you compound it by challenging the play and losing that too???

Never understood that logic with Reid either.

al the NL east teams have problems.

    Replay sucks in baseball

Good game KK should have made it out of the 6th. Would be nice to go deeper in the game. But he did his job. At least we won’t have to see Manship or Capp. Duekman coming back out ? Or do you use a combo of Bastardo Adams Pap for full innings

I know you can not be perfect but couldn’t you be perfect for one more inning. Need some runes in the 8th boys.

How do you not have a PH up for LA. I get if Perez was going to start the 9th letting him hit. But you really don’t have better option. How about Grrinke

So if it hard for a guy who can bunt well for a base hit but has troubles sacrificing. Why not bunt for h hit with a guy on base ?

Nice win and 3 out of four from NL West leaders. CHOOCH loves the. 2 hole. LA series for Chooch .500 4 doubles triple and HR 6 RBIs. A series cycle for Carlos. Asche makes huge defensive play and big lead off single. Maybe this will help him relax. I think he will be a decent hitter soon

Good win for the Phils.. Galvis or Nix needs to go back to the minors.. And bring up Hernandez.. One of them can be the backup defender.. Give Hernandez some starts @ 3B
