Philadelphia Phillies (1-2) at Chicago Cubs (1-2)

Starting Pitchers:
PHI: RHP Roberto Hernandez
vs.
TEX: LHP Travis Wood

Time: 2:20, Wrigley Field

A Note for Tonight:

Jimmy Rollins is still out of the lineup, although he was in the original order for today’s game. Ryne Sandberg said there was a misunderstanding and that Rollins would be flying into Chicago tonight. Looks like he’ll be back in there for tomorrow’s afternoon game.

As for today’s game, the Phillies will face Travis Wood, another lefty. During his career, left-handed hitters are batting just .212 off Wood, and as we know there are several of them in the Phillies order.

Lineup:

Revere CF / Ruiz C / Utley 2B / Byrd RF / Howard 1B / Brown LF / Nix SS / Asche 3B / Hernandez P

When Amaro goes into work do the people tell him to keep up the good work?
He doesn’t feel bad about collecting a pay check?
    Whatever happened to shame?

I am always happy when Rollins isn’t in the line up.

Will they trot out Paplebomb in a save situation?

I would bet its bastardo or someone else.
But you don’t have to announce that before the game.

    Go phillies!!!!!!!!

You can win one more game than the mets this year.

    Please.

That’s all I am asking for.

Why are you happy Rollins isn’t in the lineup?

I am not a fan of pop ups.

    But

Nix isn’t much of a replacement.

If Jimmy would have been in the 8 hole the last 3 or so years hed just be in the 8 hole this game. Where he should be and it would be a given.

3-2 Phils of a 2 run Utley homer.

Please no save situation and no Paplebown.

It looked like Chase barely swung at that one, great result though.

Was Fausto on a pitch count limit for some reason?

Really 73 pitches and no one on 1 out in the 6th and you go to a shaky pen. More and more concerned about over management style by Ryno. Especially when Hernandez was on roll

And the pitchers spot leads off. So Hernandez could just as easily been taken out for PH.

Is there not a right handed bat on the bench. I don’t know maybe Mayberry. Who got a PH the other day.

I think maybe you save Mayberry for later in the game as your power bat if you need him, that’s my only reasoning there

Utley is still the man. C’mon bullpen..

JMJ worth keeping on the bench now. Maybe he knows his job is on the line when RUF comes back

Great job JMJ. Should keep Paps out of the game.

Hogeys good call on previous post. Nice job holding on to the power guy. But doesn’t C Hernandez switch hit or is the bench that short with JRoll out

I think you’re right that the bench is short with j roll put, I don’t believe they put him on the paternity list…. And yes Hernandez is a switch hitter… And I think you’re onto something with mayberry maybe worried about his job when ruf comes back cause he’s been playing good lately

Not a super clean inning by Bastardo. But effective. Got a little squeezed on the second walk. Nice to see him refocus and get the ground ball

AB a little shaky there, two walks. Got out of it, thats all that matters I guess.

Ok guys. We got a game with the Cubs today. And that only means one thing. Bad news for the Cubs!

Ok I can’t defend this one 2 outs in the 9th in a 7-2 ball game, why not let Hollands finish it out???

Jamie is there value in pitching inside lefty lefty? Cause you only said so 14 times now.

    winner winner chicken dinner

    Go Phillies!

Liked not seeing he pap smear.

If Howard takes walks Id have to re assess my entire opinion of things.

But lets wait a few weeks to see if that continues.

Good game offensively some clutch hitting good base running and worked a lot of long counts. Pitching was good impressed with Hernandez looked good. Now to carry the offense into tomorrow

Star of the game is John Mayberry Jr for the “Making it not a save situation” home run.
