A Note for Tonight:The Phillies finally snapped their losing streak with Friday’s 8-0 win over the Reds.  Despite the Phillies’ recent struggles, they remain seven games out of first place in the National League East. That doesn’t sound too bad considering the terrible streak they’ve been on. With the way the Phillies have been playing, you’d think the standings would be much worse; however, seven games out of the division is manageable.  Managable for the 2014 Phillies remains to be seen.  A winning streak would help the Phillies get out of the cellar, and closer within reach of the other teams in the division.

Roberto Hernandez has only pitched more than 6 innings twice in 10 starts. On the flip side, Alfredo Simon has yet to allow a run after the fourth inning (in 25+ innings). The Phillies need to get to Simon early.

Start an inning with two hits and score no runs. Way to go, Phils. :p

(sigh) OK, I guess a two-game winning streak is too much to expect from this team.

Ok, so the rule is: you can not block the plate if you’re a Phillie, but anybody else can block the plate. Have I got that right?

Who is the idiot who is sending these people from 3rd? That’s the second one that has been out by a mile!

It seems that when the players aren’t too horrible, one of the coaches is. This team can find more ways to lose than a billionaire can find ways to count money.

Just another reason, in an endless list, of why Ruin has to go…now!

Intentional or not is irrelevant. They’ve been throwing away young players prospects to get past-their-prime all-stars for 6 years now it was inevitable that sooner or later some of those would prove to be valuable. The fact that we have seen so few major mistakes only shows what a crappy job they’ve been doing identifying prospects.

That was the worst trade by far… We gave up so much talent and it’s really starting to hurt now… I wish that we could go back and reverse that trade

Well, look at the bright side, Hogey. The Astros changed leagues.
I know, not much consolation there.

A few years ago, there was a joke that the Astros were a Phillies’ farm affiliate. But you can make a case for Ed Wade winning every trade he made with the Phillies. Even with the Lidge trade, Michael Bourn had a 12.1 WAR during his years with the Astros. Lidge only had a 1.7 WAR total for the Phillies.

Chapman huh, where are Galvis’ and Kratz’when we need them?

Ironic that those guys couldn’t make contact with a 5 mph beach ball but hit back-to-backers against Chapman.

Aroldis must have been aiming for their bats.

103 with a 90mph change is just not fair.

19 runs in 4 games with games started by Strasburg, Fister, Cueto and Simon. Not bad at all considering the starting pitching they were facing. Problem is the Phillies have given up 18 runs in those games. In the last 10 games, the Phillies have gotten 2 quality starts by Cole Hamels. The rest of the rotation has been very shaky. .

This team is a joke. Consider their everday players, excluding howard, utley, and rollins it is basicalll a triple a lineup. Minus hamels, what is the rotation? … well below average. Maybe they will lose at least 90 games this year.
