Williams has been looking great for the Phils so far. Maybe we can squeeze a win out of this one. If we can hit something.

    The listing says Phillies broadcast

But its really the mets broadcast.

Have to over come, improvise and adapt.

    Huge game.

Oh Benny, you gotta get guys in from third. Just gotta get r done son. I feel for him playing with that bad foot, but if he’s the best average hitter we have, then he’s got to drive in guys on third with two outs.

That’s how long replay should take. I wouldn’t mind replay if they were all like that.

I’ve heard that it doesn’t actually take more time than the manager coming out and arguing, but replay is boring.

And in the ballpark, the first 30 seconds of replay are a black screen with the words “Replay brought to you by Samsung..” In case you thought replay couldn’t be any more boring.

Saw the play. It’s hard to believe that the umpire missed the tag. It wasn’t a close play. Just really bad positioning by the umpire. I thought Wright should have been out for running on the grass to evade the tag but it was very easy to see the tag.

I really need to fix my Harry Kalas game-calling app to handle the new replay rule. It picked up an extra out when the play was overturned..

When I first heard about replay I envisioned it being called the “WB Mason replay break”. I guess Samsung paid more.

That’s a sign that you’re getting old. I feel your pain. Though my kids are fluffy, so their age looks quite different.

14th time this year they’ve scored 5+ in an inning.

Also, tonight is Rollins’ 656th career multi-hit game. Ashburn’s team record is 657.

There are days I watch this team and wonder how come they can not play like that all the time. And I listen to all the complaining about RAJ. So he over paid slightly for a few guys like Paps and gave a few guys one too many years. But he has put together a pretty good young bull pen. He went out a got a lead off hitter that hits .300 and steals bases. Granted he does not walk but he doesn’t swing at pitches out of the strike zone very often. He brought in a RH bat and above avg defensive RFer who will hit 25 plus HRS and is hitting .275. Not too bad

Not to mention Grady Sizemore, who the Phillies got for nothing or close to it. And the Revere acquisition would have looked even better (and Amaro that much shrewder ) if we had picked up Worley on the rebound when the Twins were giving up on him. Of course, had Lee and Burnett not incurred physical ailments, we might well be neck-and-neck with the Braves and in contention for a WC. (Burnett, by the way, I see as another good acquisition that could look even better – if he wants to play and patches himself up in the off-season.)

But so be it. I think it was Bernard Baruch who, when asked how he became so successful as an investor, said “by selling too soon.” In other words – don’t be afraid to derive benefit from a profitable situation, and move on. I think a ballclub should be run with the same philosophy in mind, and that’s where my biggest gripe is with the front office. Granted that ballplayers aren’t stocks, and loyalty to players and fans alike comes into play. Nevertheless, one didn’t need a freakin’ crystal ball to see, a couple of years ago at least, that this was an aging ballclub and – especially in view of a thinned-out minor league talent pool – in need of a personnel and payroll overhaul.

In 2014 we should be well along in our rebuilding process (see “Chicago Cubs”) and not stuck with a huge payroll together with beyond-their-prime stars who are of little or no trading value.
