New York Mets (56-61) at Philadelphia Phillies (52-65)

Starting Pitchers:
NYM: Zack Wheeler (7-8, 3.48)
vs.
PHI: Kyle Kendrick (5-11, 4.74)

Time: 1:35, Citizens Bank Park
TV: CSN
Weather: 82, Partly Cloudy
Media: Twitter and Facebook

A Note for Today: The Mets took last night’s game in 11 innings.  Hamels pitched seven strong innings, but once again it wasn’t enough for the win.  The offense was silenced with the lone run coming off a Carlos Ruiz homer.  The Phillies will try to rebound from the 2-1 loss.

Kyle Kendrick will get the start today.  Kendrick is coming off a decent start against the Astros where he allowed one run in seven innings. He’ll be opposed by Zack Wheeler, who was once a top prospect in the Mets organization.

Lineup:  Revere CF /Rollins SS / Utley 2B / Howard 1B /Sizemore RF / Brown LF/ Nieves C/ Asche 3B /Kendrick P.

There’s just no reason to watch this team on the days that Hamels isn’t pitching.

I really enjoy the fire and passion that Sandberg puts inside each and every one of the Phillies before each game.

At this point they should just move KK out of the rotation.

Once again, I don’t think I have stressed this enough… Thank God for Comcast! With the Phillies newest TV contracts and changes I am no longer able to see my team lose on Sundays or most days in general. Ever since I was a child I’ve been watching the Phills play Sunday afternoon games on local TV channels (PHL17, etc) but not anymore. So, being a Dishnetwork subscriber I was able to see Sunday games with a smattering of others thrown in throughout the season. But that all changed this year. Yep, viewing a poorly performing Philly team on Sunday has gone the way of the incessant playing of the Tastykake jingle from years gone by… With the added bonus of me not having to feel bad for “jinxing” the team by watching them. Thank you Comcast. God bless your over-reaching greedy hearts.
Oh, on a positive note, they did bounce Chris Wheeler… Who I couldn’t stand from way back in the Prism days… Ashburn, Kalas, Musser, and beyond)… “So, I’ve got that goin’ for me.” – Carl Spackler (aka Bill Murray)
God bless the Phills! May they achieve less suckiness in the near future. :O)

You gotta appreciate that a guy like Ben Revere with certain limitations, always goes hard. Nice baserunnng right there, and great hustle on a catch earlier. And clearly, it doesn’t to him that the team has no chance of contending this season. Way to go Ben, thanks for being one of a very few bright spots on this team.

Big day for Chase, maybe his best of the season.

Great point but Schmidt. It’s very hard to meet the fans expectations each and every time the clean up hitter comes up in a big spot. This in a game where the very best only do it well 3 times out of ten.

All due respect Scotty I. But this has been one of the most exciting weeks of baseball in a long time in this town.
