Earlier today, the Phillies selected the contract of outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. Gwynn, 31, hit .163/.281/.204 with the Phillies before being released and then re-signed by the club. Gwynn hit .290/.383/.362 with Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 20 games after re-signing and will assume the roster spot created by moving Cliff Lee to the 60-day DL.

Gwynn is up as the backup CF. He probably plays if Revere needs a rest or as a PH/ PR
