With a 5-2 loss to the Rockies at home on Saturday, the Phillies fell to 19-32 on the season, a record that stands as the second worst in the National League.
A solid outing from veteran hurler Aaron Harang, who went six innings while allowing two earned runs (on two solo home runs) and striking out seven without walking anyone, wasn’t enough for a team with such limited offense.
The righty Harang’s season ERA, at 2.02, stands as the sixth best mark in the league, but, thanks to lack of run support (2.82 runs per game), the 37-year-old has a losing record at 4-5.
All of you will be at least partially aware that the Phillies’ lineup is weak this season. But, do you know how bad they are?

I looked for some positive things to mention, so here’s something…the Phillies lead the big leagues (tied with Milwaukee) in pinch hits with 20. Their .278 average as pinch hitters is among the top teams in baseball and well above the club’s overall average.
Sorry, Harang. Your team’s not going to help you much until you’re done for the day. Maybe.
