Be the Next Phillies Nation TV Female Host!

Posted by Brian Michael, Thu, February 07, 2013 10:30 AM Comments: 6

Be the next Phillies Nation TV female host

Phillies Nation is looking for a new female host for the 2013 season. Following in the footsteps of awesome stints by Natalie and Alex, we think you might be the next host to film alongside Pat and Corey.

This is our third year of the TV show. In year 1, we aired exclusively on YouTube. In year 2, we made our way to televisions in the Lehigh Valley on 2Sports. This year, we’re hitting the Philadelphia airwaves through a new partnership with Comcast. The show will be featured on The Comcast Network and CSNPhilly.com.

So if you think you have what it takes to interview ballplayers and local celebrities; to weather rain delays and wind-strapped South Philly, and be the next Phillies Nation Female Host, complete the application below.

Please use the application to let us know about your experience and interest in the Phillies, journalism or other related subjects.  We highly recommend filming a video of yourself discussing the Phillies, but feel free to upload any photos or videos you think will help tell your story.

Note: This is an unpaid position, but it’s perfect if you’re looking to break into the media industry and meet some great people along the way.

“Why I Love the Phillies” Winner

Phillies DVD

This DVD has 4 reasons why I love the Phillies.

Congratulations to Barry from Maryland who was the winner of our “Why I Love the Phillies” contest. He will take home a set of 4 DVDs showcasing the Phillies greatest games from the past 30 years. We have lots more DVDs and other prizes to give away, so keep checking back for the next contest.

And just so everyone knows, Barry was chosen at random. And it’s a good thing, because with these submissions, it would be too difficult to pick a winner based on merit. I was reading them and they literally brought tears to my eyes. Barry’s story and a few more are available after the jump. We’ll post even more in the coming weeks and months ahead.

Week 2 FREE Fantasy Football Contest – $200 in cash prizes

Posted by Brian Michael, Wed, September 12, 2012 09:52 AM Comments: 0

Free Fantasy Football

If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a new way to play fantasy football that turns the season long grind into quick hitting one week leagues. And the best part is that you can win cash every single week. You draft a team for one week and get paid out when the Monday Night Football game ends. DraftStreet.com is at the forefront of this new trend in the fantasy world and is giving us a great promotion to kick off the season: a FREE one-week fantasy league with $200 in prizes exclusively for members of Phillies Nation.

I know, I know, we’re a Phillies blog. But we all love fantasy sports. And we love free money, too. So, as we did all summer with Fantasy Baseball, we’ll continue it through the long, cold winter with football.

This free contest will be salary-cap style drafting where everyone tries to assemble the best team out of the available players. You will have a $100,000 budget to build a team of 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 2 FLEX, and 1 Defense. Each NFL player has been assigned a price based on their expected fantasy performance.

You can adjust your roster up until the contest starts on Sunday September 16th at 1:00pm ET at which time your rosters will lock and the Live Scoreboard will be available.

CLICK HERE to sign up for free and join the Phillies Nation $200 Freeroll on DraftStreet.com.

Why do you love the Phillies?

Phillies DVD

Win this Phillies DVD set!

Why do you love the Phillies? – it’s a simple question and probably one we’ve not thought of much.

Like many of us, I started loving the Phillies because I was born in Philadelphia. That seems like a simple enough answer, but why then do I still love the Phillies after all these years? Sure they have provided some exciting baseball the past several seasons…and watching good baseball is certainly an enjoyable hobby. But why do we still love going to games this year, when they are so inconsistent? Better yet, why did I go to all those games in the late 80s and 90s to watch Bruce Ruffin, Steve Jeltz and Kevin Sefcik?

Maybe you have some ideas. Why do you love the Phillies? Submit your story below and you’ll be entered to win The Essential Games of The Philadelphia Phillies 4-disc DVD showcasing 4 of the greatest games in Phillies history.

Sorry. This form is no longer available.
