cliffFrom time to time at Phillies Nation, we afforded the opportunity to talk to some really cool people. Surprisingly, these folks aren’t always Phillies fans. One of the folks I get to speak to on a semi-regular basis at the World Famous Monster Factory is Cliff Compton. Compton is a former WWE superstar, winning the tag team championship as Domino in the tag team Deuce and Domino.

These days, Compton is a star in Ring of Honor, the Monster Factory, and travels the world, competing around the globe. Compton is also the subject of a documentary, The Wrestling Road Diaries Too!, starring himself, The Big LG, and Colt Cabana. Compton is a life-long Mets fan so I hit him up with some rapid fire questions. He gave me his thoughts on the Phillies upcoming two-game set with the Metropolitans.

How’d you become a Mets fan?

Compton: Grew up on Long Island about 20 minutes from Shea Stadium in Flushing, Queens!! I fell in love with the Mets in 1986.

Favorite memories of Shea Stadium?

Compton: Shea Stadium was huge!! Held around 56,000. Great vibe in that place. Continue reading PN Celebrity Series Preview: Cliff Compton

https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/189541_10101325420338819_235826687_n.jpgJack Moore is likely the funniest person you haven’t heard of – yet, you’ve probably read his work.

Jack is the Senior Sports Editor at BuzzFeed – a fast-paced, humor-driven, best-in-class conglomeration of content matched by few sites right now. He is also one of the two persons behind Modern Seinfeld, the Twitter account that puts the Gang of Four in modern scenarios in 160 characters or less. Modern Seinfeld has garnered 570K followers in just under five months, making it one of the fastest growing accounts in Twitter history.

Jack and I were classmates at NYU together, where, in the Spring of 2008, we bonded in our fandoms of good-but-not-great MLB teams: I being a Phillies fan and Jack a fan of the Tribe, both who had made the playoffs in 2007 after absences. He took time out of his schedule to answer some questions for our Celebrity Series Preview.

From time to time at Phillies Nation, we afforded the opportunity to talk to some really cool people. Surprisingly, these folks aren’t always Phillies fans. One of the folks we spoke to was Chase Rogan, star of the Spike TV reverse-reality show The Joe Schmo Show. Chase outlasted nine other contestants en route to winning the $100,000 grand prize on The Full Bounty. Or at least he thought he did.

The competitors Chase thought he was playing against on a show to win a $100,000 bounty hunting contract were actors, including Lorenzo Llamas, Michael Weaver (Super Troopers), Lombardo Boyer (Happy Feet, Gone in 60 Seconds), and Rob Belushi. It turns out, the $100,000 prize was real but he just had to last until the end, going through over-the-top challenges and miscalculated stunts that almost gave the show’s premise away.

Chase is a huge Pirates fan – we asked him a little bit about the show but then more importantly, the 2013 Pirates and their chances this week against the Phils!
