I saw part of it. Murphy and Hochman didn’t want Cloyd to pitch. Good job Tyler for proving them wrong.

Ken, I was young at the time but I do not remember Lonnie as being a very good outfielder either.

If Dom Brown can play center or right maybe Ruf can play left. However, I think we would have a very shaky outfield. After all, we won two World Series with Greg Luzinski and Pat Burrel playing left field.

I am not panicked anymore. Despite their recent losses they still get players on base. When the sluggers come back we should be in good shape.

The 1894 Phillies hold the record for the highest team batting average at .350.
Sam Thompson, Ed Delahanty and Billy Hamilton each hit over .400 that year.
By the way, the best hitting team in major league history finished 1894 in 4th place. -

I was listening on the radio and LA said that Diekman’s 95 mph fastball showed a lot of movement. That is exactly the kind of fastball pitcher that garners success.

Phillie Hall of Famer Eppa Rixey’s birthday was May 3rd.
In 1916 Eppa went 22-10 with a 1.85 ERA for the Phillies.

Here is what we learned:
1. They can play good baseball.
2. Although one bat does not make a hero, Galvis still may be a clutch hitter if not a good one.
3. Pierre at the top is essential.
4. Jim Thome is a class guy. If he contributes nothing, I would still admire him. -

Hopefully Galvis will be the next ozzie Smith. For those who remember, Ozzy was a little hitting defensive wizard until he was traded to St. Louis. After the trade, he became a pretty good hitter.

Logic tells you not to panic. It is only 4 games. Experience with the Phillies tells you to worry, if not panic.

What is wrong with the Phillies 2012?
1. Rolins & Polanco are over-the hill
2. Utley isn’t playing
3. Howard isn’t playing
4. Pence isn’t Lou Gehrig
5. The team stinks -

My personal opinion on Tony Larusa is that Popeye could mange for a quarter century and win more World Series than LaRussa with less talent.

I hope Charlie is watching the World Series. The way the Rangers won the 2cnd game is something the Phillies need to learn how to do.

What is wrong with the Phillies? Offense, of course. Here is what I think.
1. Rollins and Polanco are over-the-hill
2. Utley is unproductive because of nagging injuries
3. Pitchers have figured out Ryan Howard
4. Hunter Pence isn’t Lou Gehrig
5. The rest of the team is not good enough without the above mentioned players playing well. -

The Phillies offense is pitiful. Arthur Roads shuts them down.

I have been a Phillies fan since the late 1970′s whne they had Schmidt and Carlton won just one World Series. And they were lucky to win the playoffs that year. In 1983 they made it to the World Series with old stars like Joe Morgan and Tony Perez and were thumped by Baltimore. In [...]
