I don’t like Gload, I’m not a fan of his but all the talk is about platooning him with BenFran, I’d rather platoon D. Brown and BenFran than Gload and BenFran.

Def not a make or break season for him. I hope to see the kid in Reading soon again. Big guy but def not a starter.
Good luck to him.

I agree with you they dont’ all work out…AND You won’t get an argument from me about D Brown, I love the guy ever since I saw him in his second game in AA, put a bomb on to Route 61 in Reading. But It sound like more and more that a Fran/Gload platoon is [...]

Good point. I don’t think I heard of any problems with him in PIT last year. I’m going to use Football terms because they are fresh in my mind. Sorry if I can’t think of baseball comparisons right now, I’m sure there is a few. In NY, Milledge was considered the next best thing to [...]

I was watching MLB Network last night and they were talking about ML players and limit on how much they would want to make…like Jermaine Dye last year…phillies and cubs supposely offered him like 2 and 3 million and he wouldn’t take it. So I’m thinking Manny coming to the Phillies is out of the [...]

Wow..I was actually thinking about this the other day.. I’m not a Lasting Milledge fan so don’t get me confused with that but the guy has a lot of upside potential, but unproven and a bad club house guy. But we all remember Delmon Young, now with Twins, his minor league blow ups and look [...]

I think most of you are right, I believe Brooks said, “there were brief flashes of good stuff but mostly he was a target up there” which is right but I have seen him in Reading a lot and its the exact same things there. He has the stuff but sometimes he just doesn’t bring [...]

I know its a minor deal but aren’t we always complaining we need another LHP in the bullpen yet we trade him and keep a guy like Brian Bubock on the 40 man? Then trade for another INF.
I don’t understand the logic here…

bjfolk12 commented on the blog post Is Blanton Staying or Going? 2 years, 5 months ago
Not trying to start an argument and I understand he won’t be a star at the plate but there is always room for defensive players look at what Brendan Ryan got from the Mariners 2.75 million and he bated .223 with 19 doubles and 36 RBIs last year. I think Freddy could do that in [...]

He played pretty well for Reading, when I saw him. He didn’t stand out, like Brown or Drabek or a Howard when they were there and I saw them play, but played solid.
Like someone said he is 24 already so time is ticking.

bjfolk12 commented on the blog post Do the Phillies Really Need Durbin? 2 years, 5 months ago
If we keep Blanton, KK and Worley are LR and you don’t need Durbin and I would cut Baez. But I think even if we trade Blanton, moving KK or Worley to 5th spot then you have the other as the LR or spot starter, you still don’t need Durbin and can cut Baez with [...]

I don’t know that the Phillies would want or need a minor league SS prospect. They are high on Freddy Galvis who was at Reading most of the year. I believe he is 21 or 22 years old and will be in AAA this year or least by the end of the season. Like I [...]

I think it would depend on if we could lock Cole up past 2012. If we have a good shot at it then no. But if not…would get another better offer in the future?
Its great discussion question and if we can’t sign Cole to an extension it might be a starting block for trade talks with the Phillies
In reply to - Lefty posted an update in the group Free and Open Discussion: What if the Brewers would have offered us the same players for Cole Hamels instead of going for Greinke? Would you take the deal? Lorenzo Cain is […] · View -

I like the deal for 1.1 million, I really didn’t like his poor pitching in 2010. I’d much rather see some of the younger guys get a chance to throw. Bastardo and Zagurski are two young lefties with some pop. We have good SP and great back end, why not give a young guy or [...]

Personally, I’m fine with Blanton being the #5 starter or LR. However, I would love to see some young guys getting some work and building a nice future arm, in that LR or extra bullpen spot. But I think trade market will heat up for a guy like Blanton in late Spring Training or by [...]
