The only way we keep Cole is we start getting clutch hits, score with RISP, and the rest of the staff can pitch the same way he does. The silver lining so far is that we’re ONLY 4.5 GB. Problem is we don’t seem to be able to be consistent in all areas of play. [...]

Wish I could share in your optimism about Howard & Utley, but there’s no guarantees that they’re going to pick up where they left off. We can’t get a time table from the front office yet on when the rehab assignments are going to start. We’re getting into a routine similar to where we were [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Lee Falters, Phillies Can’t Catch Up   3 days, 6 hours ago · View

I was at the game, and the one thing that really stuck out to me is the lack of the clutch hit. It’s been lacking all season. At least 5 of our hits didn’t get out of the infield, and when Howard comes back, will he have figured out how to hit to the opposite [...]

May be these guys need a tetnus shot or something. Where’s the offense on this club?

If this is the best offense we got, we’re in for a long season.

This has turned into a long game. Freddy’s gotta show me he’s got a bat at this late stage of the game & get on base.

Our rotation is tops, along with our bullpen. However, we need to be able to score runs. With the right side of the infield done for a while, when does RAJ start trading? Blanton needs to go.

The thing is, none of the remaining Washington media didn’t pick this up outside of the Wash Post. Looking forward to seeing everyone the 1st weekend in May in DC.

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Jimmy Rollins Signs Three-Year Deal with Phillies   5 months, 1 week ago · View

I’m glad JRoll is staying home. He’s earned it, and he knows he’s toward the end of his career. I said from the beginning both sides would do 3 years with options. Now it’s up to both Cholly, GG, and JRoll to really determine where the best ‘fit’ is in the lineup. He’ll start at [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Utley’s Subpar 2011 Raises Questions About Future   5 months, 2 weeks ago · View

This is Utley’s make or break year as far as what happens next. If he continues to have the numbers he’s had post injury (this past one), I think the Phils start looking at what’s in the pipeline sooner vs. later, and the word ‘retirement’ starts showing up in conversations more about him. If he [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Phils Would Be Thankful To Have Damon   5 months, 3 weeks ago · View

i see plenty wrong with this, starting with his age. There’s no guarantee that he’ll be able to transition over to the NL, and stay healthy. This team needs to get young again, now. We’ve already got a bench presence with Thome. Damon managed to fit a nitch down in TB. We don’t have that [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Phils Would Be Thankful To Have Damon   6 months ago · View

This wouldn’t be a smart move. He’s nothing more than a emergency starter at best, and would be taking the place of Ross Gload on the bench. There’s a better player & deal out there. Happy Thanksgiving All!

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Papelbon Signing Swallows Up Important Flexibility   6 months, 1 week ago · View

Chuck, I think this is the make or break whether Chase keeps this designation or not. If he’s injury free, then he’s gotta show it. If he gets hurt, then I think you start hearing rumors of him being traded or retirement.

I’m sad to see Mad Dog go. However, Boras probably threw something in at the last minute that nixed the whole thing. We won’t know until Mad Dog signs somewhere else, and during the press conference with his new team do the questions get asked. It’ll be interesting to see where MD winds up. I’m [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Credit Where Credit’s Due: Kyle Kendrick’s 2011 Season   6 months, 3 weeks ago · View

KK won’t’ be trade bait until after the season starts, and the question marks on Blanton are somewhat answered. If Big Joe has a good to great start, KK’s packing. If Big Joe has less than a good/great start KK’s here for the year. He won’t get $4-$5 mil, but more like $3-$4 mil once [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Oswalt, Lidge Options Declined by Phillies   7 months ago · View

Lidge, I’d rather pass on. He’s the new Rheal Cormier of baseball. We don’t need to use a roster spot for an extreme situation. La Russa would probably take him. Oswalt would be better as a middle reliever. KK’s time in Philly needs to conclude. He gave me the same feeling Jose Mesa gave me [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post Who Plays First if Howard Can’t?   7 months, 1 week ago · View

Mayberry is the odds favorite. However, it leaves LF wide open. Dom Brown is by no means a lock of making the lineup next year. It raises an interesting question about Ben Francisco here.

There is a MLB rule that allows you to substitute a runner after the ball’s been hit, and the batter becomes a runner.

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post How I Came to Know Incredulity   7 months, 2 weeks ago · View

I said in my post on Saturday after going to this game that this is one of THOSE games that going to stick around awhile. Especially when we should be in Milwaukee right now taking target practice on Bennie the Brewer’s slide in left field. It’s been 5 days, and still feel the lingering effects [...]

  • LCMRSalazar85 commented on the blog post The Futures of Rollins, Madson, Dom Brown   7 months, 2 weeks ago · View

Stay away from Reyes! He’s a cancer and needs to stay in NYC for the rest of what’s left of his career. Removing himself from the last game of the regular season to keep the batting crown proves he believes he’s the center of the universe. I’ll take JRoll at his word that he wants [...]
