I hope this video is not a sign of things to come. Nothing against this guy personally, he may turn out to be a great outfielder someplace but I’d rather not have to start seeing self glorifying videos with music and computer graphics for new players trying to break into major league baseball.

JakeyJ commented on the blog post Michael Young Continues to Plug Along – For Texas 1 year, 8 months ago
Schmenkman’s 5 point plan to avoid a Hamels for Young trade makes sense to me. I can’t believe another pitcher even suggested such a trade, let alone it being Wild Thing. What if Polanco comes back and stays healthy and has a great season next year and Young is the one with a nagging injury [...]

The bullpen and closer positions are big question marks going into next season. Why would Amaro even make a statement like that right now? Did he say that in his last press conference? I missed that. Hopefully, we keep Madson, but we don’t know how high the price for that may go. If Madson walks, why [...]

JakeyJ commented on the blog post Dr. Strangeglove: On a Plan for Domonic Brown 1 year, 8 months ago
I tend to agree with those wanting to give both Mayberry and Brown extended Major League playing time before judging what to do with them. Howard’s injury opens the door for that to happen early next season as long as Howard isn’t rushed back into the lineup. They didn’t rush Utley back this year and [...]

Honest expression of disappointment in this article that a lot of us are feeling to one degree or another. Those of us who go back far enough to remember watching the 1964 collapse on small black and white TV screens keep bringing it up to deal with disappointment and there is a good reason for [...]

The only evidence I’ve seen of the “most obnoxious fanbase in baseball” on this thread was posted by diego. I’m not sure what happened to him to make him so bitter.

Don’s idea of offering Ibanez a low cost deal as a situational bench player might work. Raul may figure it to be the best place to have a final shot at a ring.

JakeyJ commented on the blog post What To Do With Polanco… 1 year, 8 months ago
What Corey states in this article makes sense. Polanco’s defensive abilities were still grade A this season even playing with a injury. His late season offensive problems was one of the things that sunk the Phils in this years playoffs. If Polly can bounce back with a healthy year next season, there is no problem there. [...]

True we needed 9 more to win it. I was trying to show how close we were to getting into a World Series from the St. Louis series compared to next Spring. Count the Halladay -Carpenter game and 4 wins the next series,5 wins could have got us back to the World Series. Maybe “a [...]

Now that it appears that both Polanco and Howard entered the playoffs with injuries that affected their hitting, maybe it’s time to revisit Charlie’s adaptability problem. He sticks with the veteran players to a fault. Several Phillies Nation posters have gone through this time and time again so this is no surprise to anyone who [...]

JakeyJ commented on the blog post Another Sad Ending for Ryan Howard 1 year, 8 months ago
Congrats to the Cards and Carpenter, who pitched a great game when he needed it most. As bad as it feels right now, I think as long as the Phils secure Hamels, they will still have some post season runs likely in the years ahead. The pitching will be pretty good. Changes to the offense are [...]

JakeyJ commented on the blog post Hamels Keeps Proving Playoffs Don’t Faze Him 1 year, 8 months ago
Phillies pitching depth continues to come through although the bridge from Cole to Ryan was a bit nerve testing last night. It certainly made for some exciting baseball. I’m a little concerned about Polanco. Hopefully his health doesn’t become a liability to the Phils lineup the way Chase’s drop in production and defense did in [...]

After two ideal chances for Howard to put this game away,it ends up Gload is tonight’s hero. With some breathing space between the Phils and Braves, Charlie should be able to give some of the key players some rest. Sounds like Chase is OK.

Worley gets out of that early jam and settles down into a good couple of innings to start. This would be a great step for him if he could keep the lid on this team.

A tip of the ball cap to Chuck A on the game start time call. You may be right on the possibility of a rain shortened game too. I just checked out the Washington D.C. radar and there is more coming up from the South.

Oswalt really struggled in this one ,right from the start. Sure would be nice to win this one before the storm break. From what I read on SI.com,the Giants only had 48 hours to work out a deal for Bell and the Padres turned down what they offered.

I just came across a AP article that the Heath Bell trade between Giants and Padres fell apart but it gave little detail what happened. Anyone else find a better source about this?
