Blogs: Daily News Adds Beat To Crowded Field

Here is the flooded land of Phillies blogs:

Phillies Nation: Clearly the best of the best.
Beerleaguer: Good reader commentary.
We Should Be GMs: Hilarity.
A Citizen’s Blog: Good statistical analysis.
The Good Phight: Nice quick hits.
PhilliesFlow: Nice topics.

There’s a bunch more, some start-up, some faded away, some occasional. But to me, that’s the heavy list.

Also part of this list is the journalist blog, The Zo Zone, written by Inky scribe Todd Zolecki. He’s looking to rename his blog. He also has a new picture, which gets rid of the “You look like Jim Carrey” thing, but adds the “You look like Paul Giamatti” thing. Bad move, Todd.

I like The Zo Zone. Todd actually acknowledges our presence (see Conlin, Bill and Hayes, Marcus for people who don’t) and he gives that extra bit more insight into covering the team each day (our dream jobs).

Now, the Daily News has jumped into the Blogosphere, and with its new Phillies beat writer: David Murphy.

Murphy came to the DN in ’08 (they were advertising for a Phils beat writer in January) and is a Philadelphia-area (Poconos/Upper Merion) native. His last position? He was the Tampa Bay Storm beat writer for the St. Pete Times. The Storm, by the way, is an AFL team.

Murphy will be bringing us “High Cheese” in an effort to compete with Zolecki and the rest of us.

Welcome, David, to the flooded waters of Phillies blogland.
