Gameday: Mets (9-6) At Phillies (8-9)

Cole Hamels lost the battle of the league’s best lefties, giving up four earned over seven. And his offense wasn’t much better; only Chase Utley and Greg Dobbs were able to power the offense.

Today it’s Jamie Moyer’s turn, and he must bring forth a solid start. Oliver Perez is the Mets’ starter, and the Phils need to be patient with the usually wild arm.

Mets fans will be in droves at today’s game — for us going, let’s be nice. We can talk when we win today.

Phillies: Jamie Moyer (1-0), 5.52 ERA
Mets: Oliver Perez (1-0), 3.38 ERA

Gametime: 3:55 p.m.
TV: Fox
Weather: 78 degrees, partly cloudy
Lineup: Taguchi/Werth/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Feliz/Coste/Bruntlett/Moyer

MLB Gameday

Your gameday beer: It’s an important game for the Phils, who really need to win this series. So grab an important beer — like a blueberry ale. Important you ask? It’s an important kind of beer because not many brewers try to tackle it (it’s very New England-centric), and so we’re still looking for the standard. That said, Atlantic Brewing Co.’s Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale isn’t a bad choice. It’s mainly a standard amber ale with blueberry tastes lingering. Not great, but not overpowering, and that always helps. Have it with a grilled chicken sandwich and some fries.

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
