Gamenight: Cubs (6-3) At Phillies (4-6)

The Phils walked out of Shea Stadium with one win to show for it, and two games that featured wild, wacky and what-the-hell moments. Now they focus their attention on the hot Chicago Cubs, coming back home for a weekend set. The Cubs feature Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee and the sweet-swinging Kosuke Fukudome. If he beats us with a home run or big hit or amazing catch, I will not write “Fuck You, Dome” as a headline. I will not. I promise.

Jimmy Rollins will again be a game-time decision. Rain will be pouring all day — look for a possible postponement and doubleheader tomorrow.

Phillies: Brett Myers (0-1), 6.30 ERA
Cubs: Carlos Zambrano (1-0), 1.32 ERA

Gametime: 7:05 p.m.
Weather: 66 degrees, showers

Your gameday beer: With Brett Myers facing Carlos Zambrano, it’s a battle of two of the chubbier starters in the National League. For that, grab a Stoudt’s Fat Dog. This imperial stout tastes like chocolate and coffee, and since Myers probably loves chocolate and gets amped up on caffeine, it’s the perfect choice for this matchup. Sip it slow with a big, fat slice of cake. Brett wouldn’t want it any different.

Go Phillies!

Tim Malcolm

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
