Gamenight: Phillies (1-2) At Reds (2-1)

Thanks to some timely singles, some good bullpen work and Jimmy Rollins’ legs, the Phillies are finally in the win column. Now it’s time to even ’em up. And Kyle Kendrick, the second-year pitcher, gets the call to do the job.

It’s the first road game of the season for the Phils, as they hit Great American Park for their annual early season tilt with the Cincinnati nine. It’ll be a homer-lover’s dream in Cincy — Dunn, Griffey and Phillips vs. Howard, Utley and Burrell. Warm up the mitts. Rain is expected for Cincinnati, so hopefully they get the game in.

Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (0-0), 0.00 ERA
Reds: Josh Fogg (0-0), 0.00 ERA

Gametime: 7:15 p.m.
Weather: 54 degrees, rain
Lineup: Rollins/Victorino/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Jenkins/Feliz/Ruiz/Kendrick

Your gamenight beer: The name of the game is “Victory!” because of the Phils first win of 2008, and of course, that means a Victory beer. How about Golden Monkey, which tastes like victory — fruity like hell (bananas, oranges, vanilla) and smoothly tart (if that’s even possible) — and is ripe with enough alcohol to last you a good hour. Enjoy it with some lemon-glazed chicken and rice. Hey, we’re going to be classy some nights.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
