Gamenight: Phillies (4-4) At Mets (2-4)

Yesterday the Phillies took game one against the Mets by getting beaten to a pulp physically. Hey, you take it any way you can.

Today, more bad news for the Mets: Orlando Hernandez had another MRI because of pain in his foot — the foot he originally injured. Jimmy Rollins sprained his ankle yesterday but will start tonight. (UPDATE: He was a late scratch and is not playing.) Mike Pelfrey gets his first start of 2008 for the Mets.

Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (1-0), 7.20 ERA
Mets: Mike Pelfrey (0-0), 0.00 ERA

Gametime: 7:10 p.m.
National TV: ESPN2
Weather: 53 degrees, mostly cloudy
Lineup: Victorino/Bruntlett/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Jenkins/Feliz/Ruiz/Kendrick

Your gameday beer:

They’re trying to throw a monkey wrench into their plans. Jimmy Rollins’ sprained ankle took the … legs … from under them yesterday, but the Phils still won. For that, grab a Monkey Wrench Strong Ale, an English strong ale that screams toffee. Because the only way to combat a monkey wrench is to down one yourself. What to eat with it? A heaping, hot bowl of beef barley works.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
