The Phillies have signed eight draft picks, including a biggie: Anthony Gose.
Gose, the 51st overall pick, is an outfielder/pitcher who was a strong possibility to instead go to the University of Arizona. As an outfielder he’s a nice toolsie player, but as a pitcher he throws a 97 mph fastball, and he’s left-handed.
The other signees:
- Jeremy Hamilton (5th round, 1B)
- Cody Overbeck (9th round, 3B)
- Daniel Hargrave (22nd round, 2B)
- Brandon Haislet (23rd round, OF)
- Jordan Ellis (28th round, RHP)
- Michael Cisco (36th round, RHP)
- Bryan Frew (43rd round, OF)
All of the signees are college players, except for Gose.
That’s great news.
