A.S. and A.H.: Bedard Close?

MLBTradeRumors has a post with a bunch of Bedard-Phillies links.

Divulge here. Of those links, there’s a piece about how Bedard was on 950 AM in Philly (which seems weird), and Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus has this:

“Sources say that Pat Gillickâ€™s comfort level with both Lee Pelekoudas and the medical staff he knows from his days in Seattle is making this deal possible, though Gillick seems to want Bedard at a significant discount to what the Mariners paid in the off-season.”

Makes sense. Bedard is getting $7M this season through arbitration with the Mariners. He’ll be worth even more after 2008 and is good through 2010. So what does significant discount mean? I’d say a Carlos Carrasco/Greg Golson/Travis d’Arnaud deal, or something to that extent, would be significant.
