Gamenight: Mets (42-43) At Phillies (47-39)

James Happ, welcome back to the show. By the way, you get the Mets again. And you’re opposing Johan Santana.

Good luck!

Seriously though, Happ will have his work cut out for him in his first start (second, career). The Mets have scored 25 runs in their past three games, including 11 against the Cardinals last night. The Phils throw Happ into the fire in the place of Brett Myers, who’s having “fun” in Allentown. Well, great.

It’s the first of a four-game set. A very big four-game set. For us, it means separating ourselves considerably from the Mets and the rest of the NL East. For them, it means getting right back into the thick of things with the All-Star break a week away. Yeah, these’ll be some barnburners. Crazy lineup today.

Happy Fourth of July!

Phillies: James Happ (0-0) 0.00 ERA [Debut]
Mets: Johan Santana (7-7) 3.01 ERA

Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather:

80, possible storms
Lineup: Werth/Utley/Rollins/Howard/Burrell/Feliz/Victorino/Coste/Happ

MLB Gameday

Your gamenight beer: Last time the Phils played the Mets they lost two of three. Before that they lost two of three. I say no more. So for that, here’s Rocky’s Revenge Bourbon Brown. Yes, they say there’s hints of bourbon in this beer. Enough to take those lil’ runts and bash their skulls in. “You’ll eat lightnin’ and crap thunda’!” It’s also the perfect beer for a cookout. Goes well with barbecue. And you know you’ll be having a cookout tonight. So eat some barbecue chicken with this.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
