Tonight is the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The National League and American League partake in this mid-summer classic, which brings together most of baseball’s best players. (I say most of because it’s not all of them.)
The National League has a potent lineup of slap hitters and power bashers, while the American League will trot out a bunch of Yankees and Red Sox. And Josh Hamilton. He’s good.
Look for Chase Utley to get about five innings, while Brad Lidge is scheduled to close this out for the NL. And I say they’ll win. This is the year, folks, that the NL takes down the junior circuit. Look for the tough NL lineup to expose starter Cliff Lee and jump out to an early lead. Then watch Edinson Volquez and Dan Haren mow the AL down later.
Of course, Billy Wagner is scheduled to pitch in the eighth inning. I hope the NL has a huge lead by then.
National: Ben Sheets (10-3) 2.85 ERA
American: Cliff Lee (12-2) 2.31 ERA
Gametime: 8 p.m. EST
Weather: 79, sunny
Lineup: Ramirez/Utley/Berkman/Pujols/Jones/Holliday/Braun/Soto/Fukudome
Your gamenight beer: Tonight, as it’s an exhibition, you drink what you want. You make the recommendation. What’s your favorite beer?
