After a nice win backed by a strong offensive output, the Phillies will turn to ace Cole Hamels to try and at least gain a split in this four-gamer. Hamels goes up against Dodger youngster Clayton Kershaw, who got a no decision (3 ER, 6 IP) against the Phillies two weeks back.
Kershaw County: Kershaw has gone at least six innings in his last five starts, lowering his ERA from 5.18 to 3.59.
Cole Streak: Hamels pitched seven starts until his 10th win, the most he’s gone without one in his career. In those seven starts he gave up just 18 earned runs in 45 innnings.
Career Chris: With four RBI last night, Chris Coste tied his season high (32), which he accomplished in 2006.
Phillies: Cole Hamels (10-8) 3.22 ERA
Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw (2-3) 3.59 ERA

Your gameday beer: This one’s from Geoff, who recommends Stoudt’s Fat Dog, an offering from the great brewery west of Philadelphia. It’s an oatmeal stout, which is darker, sometimes heavier, laced with oatmeal flavor and high in malty content. I’m a fan of oatmeal stouts, especially when good, strong food is paired with it. Maybe some honey-glazed ham and sweet potatoes today. I will be cooking out — barbecue chicken is on the menu.
Go Phillies!
