Gamenight: Phillies (64-54) At Dodgers (59-59)

The Phils road trip continues in Dodgertown, in this second game of a four-gamer against Manny, Kent, Ethier, Kemp and Co. The Phils lost Monday night, with Kyle Kendrick blowing up and the offense not doing enough on the national stage to win it. No worries, Cole Hamels is on the mound tonight. Right?

Lonely Cole: Hamels hasn’t won since early July. It’s time for him to get a W.

No Clayton: The Phillies have never faced Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw. The rookie has let up just one run in his last 19 innings.

How About That: Ryan Howard reached the 100-RBI plateau last night. He now has 453 RBI in 528 career games. Staggering.

Eastern Promises: As of the post, the Mets are tied with the Nationals; the Marlins are beating the Cardinals 4-3.

Roll Around: Jimmy Rollins is hitting third tonight, with Shane Victorino leading off. I can dig that.

Phillies: Cole Hamels (9-8) 3.35 ERA
Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw (2-3) 3.71 ERA

Gametime: 10:10 p.m. EST
Weather:

79, sunny
Lineup: Victorino/Utley/Rollins/Howard/Burrell/Werth/Coste/Bruntlett/Hamels

Your gamenight beer: Any beer that calls itself “Entire Butt” is good in my book. But Entire Butt Porter might be the greatest beer ever created. Full of taste, it goes down like water that was magically sprayed by the gods. So godly water, really. That’s the general focus of the discussion. What do you eat with this? Something with mild spice. Something that makes you want to run to the beer and enjoy every last sip. Something … well, something warm, is the gist of the explanation I’m making. Go with beef and peppers.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
