After one of the season’s most horrid losses, the Phillies will desperately try and pick it up in game two against the Pirates. Two of baseball’s most curiously bad starters will face off: Brett Myers and Ian Snell. Myers has been effective of late.
Hitless: The Phillies haven’t scored a run since Wednesday. That RBI was from Mike Cervenak, which was his first RBI of his career.
Snell’s Bad: Unlike Paul Maholm, Ian Snell has had some trouble against the Phillies, with a career ERA of 4.50 against the good guys.
Phillies: Brett Myers (4-9) 5.34 ERA
Pirates: Ian Snell (4-8) 6.14 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST

MLB Gameday Your gamenight beer: Tonight we need a Victory. Tonight we need a strong one. Tonight we’re going to the Philly area, to the Victory Brewing Company, with V-Twelve. It’s a potent beer, a Quadrupel, the Belgian style of strong beers. It goes good with anything glazed and flavorful. I say ribs. What it goes best with, however, is offense, which is what we need tonight, and how.
Go Phillies!
Tim MalcolmTim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
