Glancing At The Other Sets
Turns out I didn’t learn my lesson. Who doesn’t love predictions? I know I love them, so I’ll predict the division series’ in very, very, very quick form … now:
American League Division Series
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (W1) vs. Boston Red Sox (WC)
Color me disenchanted by another Angels-Sox slate. And color me unimpressed by the Angels lately. They cruised through the dregs of the West to end the season, and won 100 despite having a poor offense. OK, pitching is good, but the Sox find ways to win. And the Sox pitching staff is just as good. And they’re experienced. Banged up? Please. Color me Red. As in Sox.
Winner: Red Sox, 3-1
Tampa Bay Rays (E1) vs. Chicago White Sox (C1)
I love this Rays team. They’re hot shots, scrappy dogs, feisty rodents, etc. I hate this Sox team. They’re mashers, bullies, punks, etc. I’ll be honest — both these teams can go all the way, and they’ll take it to each other hard. I expect Tampa to win their home games, then Chicago to return the favor in theirs. And in game five, I like Tampa. They have the starting pitching, they have a solid bullpen, they have clutch hitters. Chicago just isn’t as good.
Winner: Rays, 3-2
National League Division Series
Chicago Cubs (C1) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (W1)
The complete package vs. the ticking time bomb. I can’t see Chicago losing. Not yet. They’ll storm out the gates at Wrigley, bashing the ball about and bringing joy to mudville. Game three will go to the Dodgers, since they have to mount some sort of comeback. I do like this LA team, just not against the Cubbies. Team Destiny continues on for another round.
Winner: Cubs, 3-1
