NLDS Game 1 : Brewers At Phillies

Game 1 : National League Division Series
Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies
Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia

3 p.m. / 70, possible showers
Yovani Gallardo (0-0, 1.88 ERA) vs. Cole Hamels (14-10, 3.09 ERA)

So here we are, game one of the NLDS. After all the predicting and previewing, it’s gametime. For the Phils to win, Hamels needs to be Hamels. The offense needs to be patient and hope for Gallardo to be wild. Then they can hit him late and hit the Brewers bullpen.

If Hamels is off his game, this will be an extremely tough one to salvage. With CC Sabathia set to throw tomorrow, this game is very important for the Phillies. We can only hope they’re not as nervous as we fans.

Your Gameday Beer

Back in Philly, at Monk’s, there’s a Belgian beer called St. Bernardus Abt. 12. I had this a while back, and recommended it, saying it was a perfect Belgian Quadrupel. Basically, a Quad is a freakin’ strong beer. St. Bernardus is no exception. It’s delicious, but it will leave you reeling. After one, I was very happy. Have this, or whatever you like, as you cheer on the boys in game one.

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
