It looked like the Phillies and Rays would renew their hate-soaked rivalry in the World Series, but the Red Sox decided to tap into that ol’ Red Sox magic.
Seriously, the Sox were down 7-0 in the seventh, when David Ortiz homered. Then JD Drew homered. And then soon the game was tied, 7-7. Drew’s ninth-inning double won it for the Sox.
Now the ALCS shifts back to Tampa for game six Saturday. Hopefully the Rays win, because no way would I want the Phillies to face a team that just came back from a 3-1 deficit by winning its final three games on a miraculous comeback, and then in their opposition’s home field. No freakin’ way.
Regardless, both teams will be tough for the Phils. I mean real tough. Not Brewer tough, not Dodger tough, not even Met tough, but real, real tough. They’re very good. Luckily for us, the Phillies are very good, too.
