Dobbs: Ibanez 'Perfect' For Team

Paul Hagen spoke to Greg Dobbs about Raul Ibanez. Dobbs, who played with Ibanez from 2004-06, had this to say:

“Once I found out that we were interested in him, I thought he’d be perfect for our ballpark and our division. He has great power to all fields, he hits for average and he drives in runs.

“He’s a great guy, very professional. This will probably take playing time away from me, at least in the outfield. That’s OK.”

We might be pleasantly surprised by Ibanez. I think we should hold out all determinations until we actually see him play. I’ve been seeing a lot of fans chide Ibanez and the deal, but heck, wasn’t the championship supposed to create a new feeling of optimism? Come on, guys.

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
