To be short, last weekend I stumbled upon beer paradise. Boasting a large selection of beer (and a sign upon entering that says “Warning: This place is known to becoming addicting”), Half Time in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., raised expectations by appearance alone. But boy, did it deliver.
Thirty minutes after entering Half Time, I exited with the $20 St. Bernardus gift pack (its four standards and St. Bernardus-brand snifter!) and a variety six-pack of collected stouts from the aisles. Purchase well made. And purchase spawning a new feature: Nation Sessions.
I’ll present six different beers, all with a common theme, and review them. It’s like six Phillies games at once!
Now, I’m debating whether this should be weekly or every two weeks. I mean, it’s not like I have an endless wallet and liver. So if you have thoughts, let me know.
Also, I will use this space to shamelessly plug Half Time, simply because when I walked inside my jaw dropped. If anyone is in the Poughkeepsie area (and how could you not be?), go there.
Tim MalcolmTim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
