Rumor: Phils Still Debating Relief Pitching

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com (Insider) reports the Phillies may not be quite finished looking for pitching, after all. According to Crasnick:

There are indications that the Phillies might toss out an all-purpose offer to Will Ohman, Joe Beimel and Dennys Reyes and sign whichever reliever takes it first. A baseball source said it’s unlikely the Phils will offer anything more than a one-year deal in the $750Kto $1MM range.

Does this mean the Phillies threw any money out there? No. Take this rumor with caution and stay under the impression that the Phils are finished looking for external help until the season begins.

With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well.
