Geoff Geary Happy With Phils' Success

A good piece from the Houston Chronicle looks at Geoff Geary, the former Phillie who was traded to the Astros in that Brad Lidge deal before the 2008 season. That deal worked out, right?

Geary was glad to see his former teammates win a World Series, and even sounded like a bit of a bulldog:

“Everybody says when you win the World Series, you basically own that town for a while,” he said. “I don’t need to take advantage of that situation, but it would be really cool to be sitting on a soapbox, looking down with 25 of your best buddies and saying, ‘Yeah, now what? Say something negative about me now.’ ”

He said for the most part Phillies fans were great, but some obnoxious drunks stained some of his memories.

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
