Todd Zolecki reports Cole Hamels might be ready to pitch regular season baseball April 10 at Colorado, the fourth game of the season.
Pitching coach Rich Dubee said Hamels needs to have two starts against opposing major league hitting before going in the regular season. He pitches tomorrow in a minor-league game, then could start Sunday against the Red Sox and April 3 or 4 against the Rays in the on-deck series. If all goes well, April 10 would be the possible first start of Hamels’ season.
Chances are the Phillies would throw Brett Myers April 5 against the Braves, then Jamie Moyer and Joe Blanton in subsequent starts April 7 and 8.
