Chan Ho Park vs. Aaron Cook (0-0, 23.14 ERA)

If this one happens, we’ll see Chan Ho Park take the mound for his first start as a Phillie. Park impressed during spring training, flashing a ridiculous strikeout-to-walk ratio (25 to 2) to help secure him the fifth-starter job against JA Happ and a host of others. Park is opposed by Aaron Cook, the Rockies opening-day starter who was bruised by Diamondback home runs Monday.
Luckily for the Phillies, Cook boasts a 6.14 ERA, giving up 52 hits in seven appearances (six starts). Not so luckily, Chan Ho Park hasn’t been great at Coors Field (62 IP, 5.66 ERA).
Last night the Phils took down the Rockies, 8-4, thanks to some heavy hitting from Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth, among others. So far Werth has hit a cycle in Colorado (single, two doubles, triple, home run). Shane Victorino added three hits in the victory, raising his average to a respectable .250. Unbelievably, the Phils collected their first stolen base of the season last night when Chase Utley took second. It was a pretty inconsequential steal. The Phils need to be more loose with the bag to help their cause.
Rain is the forecast all day in Denver, so we’ll see if this one gets in.
Go Phillies!
