It has been a trying 48 hours in Phillies Nation.

After defeating the Nationals Monday afternoon, the Phillies took to the task of proceeding without its famed voice. Harry Kalas passed away Monday afternoon at age 73, and a wealth of remembrances and eulogies caught the air immediately afterward. Since, the Phillies had a scheduled Wednesday night game, but an entire day and night of rainfall postponed that. Still no word on a makeup date.

The Nationals will toss out there Shairon Martis, a rookie would made his first appearance against the Phillies on Sept. 28, 2008, giving up a run in 2.1 innings. Also playing in the game: Lou Marson, who was playing his first major league game then. He recorded two hits including his first major league home run. And Marson gets the start behind the plate tonight.

Joe Blanton will be pitching to him – he had a rough last outing against Atlanta, though the Phils came back to win. He remains undefeated as a Phillie.

Your gamenight beer: Bell’s HopSlam Ale is the drink of choice tonight because I want the Phils to ring the bell tonight. Let’s go yard a few times to shake off the rust from the rest. This beer from the Michigan brewery is laced with caramel-laden hops, perfect for a cooling spring night such as this. Eat some light vegetarian chili with it.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
